PIONEER PRESENCES INDEX
In October 1977, the Pioneer Association of the State of Washington launched its newsletter, PIONEER PRESENCES Newsletter of the state's pioneers and their descendants. The newsletter is key to communicating happenings and events of our association, especially before the internet. Pioneer Presences has been a place to document and tell the Association's story, the Washington pioneer story, family history and genealogy, and Washington pioneer history that puts our pioneer story in context. This index was created to help WA Pioneer members and friends find, learn, document, and tell their story. The ability to search 43 years of our newsletter will be a valuable research tool for historians and genealogists.
Thanks to Carolyn Weaver,
www.weaverindexing.com, for writing the index. Paraphrased from her website, “An index is a roadmap to the information in
Pioneer Presences. The index is a guide to the concepts in
Pioneer Presences. The terms used by the newsletter authors will certainly appear in the index; but a good index includes additional terms and cross references that the user may be seeking. If the words sought by the user do not appear in the index either as a term or a cross-reference, access to the information in
Pioneer Presences is lost.
This index is provided in commemoration of our association’s 125th incorporation anniversary on 5 December 2020! Please start using the index: can you find your family name, your ancestors, the place they settled? Then, you can go online at
https://wapioneers.com/ to our archive of
Pioneer Presences newsletters to read and learn more.
